As the COVID-19 vaccine is being distributed faster and faster, I thought it was appropriate to provide some facts and information. More and more of our population is being vaccinated, working towards beating this pandemic. As of June 2nd, 2021, 43.5% of California’s population is fully vaccinated. And 41.6% of the United States’s population is fully vaccinated. There have been more than 298M doses given. The effectiveness of all the vaccines, between Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J is great at protecting us from getting COVID-19.
Post-vaccination, you may have side effects. These include: pain or swelling where you got the shot, tiredness, muscle aches, chills, fever, nausea, and headache. To prevent some of these side effects, make sure to continue moving your arm. And hydrate and drink lots of water before and after the vaccination.
Being fully vaccinated allows those to feel more protected, stay safe, and get back to doing things that were shut down earlier in the pandemic. But remember, you are not the most immune until two weeks after your last dose- so hang tight!
For me, being fully vaccinated has made me feel much more free. Although I am still practicing cautious COVID-19 protocols, with the vaccine, it is almost like having an extra safety blanket covering me. I highly recommend (and so does the CDC) getting vaccinated as soon as you can to not only benefit you, but the rest of the population as well.
