I love to hike! It’s the perfect outdoor activity that’s great for your body and exploring. If you love to be out in nature and want to do something good for your health… Hiking is a great option for you.

Don’t be intimidated by getting lost on the trail, running out of water, or tripping on a rock. Look at hiking as a great way to connect with nature, a powerful workout, and a boost of self-confidence. (Trust me- The feeling of accomplishing a hike is so rewarding.)

Before embarking on your adventure, here are a few tips to keep in mind to ensure you’re prepared and protected. Everyone needs a fun, safe, and memorable experience in the hills. Whether you chose a 3 mile day hike or a whole weekend of hiking, its best that you are ready:

  1. Always keep in mind the type of trail you are hiking, steep or flat, long or short, entrance and exit points. No matter what level of hiking you are at, hiking boots or protective shoes are highly encouraged for your safety.
  2. Review the map before starting so you are familiar with the path.
  3. Plan accordingly to the whether. It’s not the smartest idea to hike in the middle of a summer day. However, sunrise hikes are very relaxing, and I highly recommend!
  4. Be aware of your surroundings. When hiking keep your eyes open for wildlife and other hikers nearby.
  5. Never hike alone. Have a hiking buddy with you and tell a friend or family member where you are going. For safety reasons this is a pre-hike essential.
  6. Bring a backpack. What to pack: snack (protein bar is good for a shorter hike), a lot of water, phone (or resource to contact others), first-aid supplies, and navigation.

Use these guidelines to make your experience more enjoyable!

Amazing views, fresh air, and natural sounds and smells of mother nature.
