It’s January, and the sun is already shining bright. Use this beautiful source of vitamin D to your advantage and soak up the sunlight.
What is the sun?
The sun is more than just some shining light in the sky. It is a crucial part of our solar system. Visit National Geographic’s site to read more about the scientific part of this key star. https://www.nationalgeographic.org/encyclopedia/sun/
When the sun comes out, so do the students. In the midst of midterm season and as we reach the middle of the Winter Quarter, the sun is a great way to motivate to push through.
Benefits of the sun:
- Improves sleep
- Strengthens your immune system
- Reduces stress
- Puts you in a better mood
- Uplifts mental health
- Heals inflammation
- Lowers blood pressure
While it is an amazing feeling bathing in the sun, we have to keep our skin safe. Make sure to wear sunscreen, a hat, or sunglasses for protection. Or limit yourself to 15 minutes— A quick 15 minutes in the sun gets you the vitamin D you need.

I always take advantage of the time I can spend in the sun. Whether that is studying outside or taking a walk on the beach, you can find me catching rays. Every opportunity I get, I spend it outside, which I have seen makes me feel so much better, while being more productive too.
