Running is a type of exercise that some people have a love/hate relationship with. This sport is not meant for everyone, but for many it works like magic— not only physically but mentally too.
Maija Shaw is a first year at Cal Poly SLO studying Kinesiology. Her passion for health and wellness started at a young age. She ran track and field since she was in elementary school, and ever since she has used running as her main outlet.
Whether she is stressed, wants to exercise, or just needs a break from life, Maija uses running to ground her mind and body. As a kinesiology major, Maija is taking classes that are helping her focus on this topic.
Running is an extremely important part of Maija’s life. It has created a meaning in her life that inspires and pushes her to be the best that she can be every day.
“If you can run, you can do anything.” stated Maija. Running makes her have a strong mindset inside and out.
Running comes with many benefits. For Maija she feels that running: tones muscles, builds stamina, stabilizes mental health, and is a huge motivator.
